ANALYTICAL METHOD DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF CAPECITABINE IN BULK DOSAGE FORM BY UV SPECTROPHOTOMETRY

ABSTRACT
A simple, rapid-accurate UV method was developed for the determination of Capecitabine in pure and tablet dosage forms. The objective of this validation of an analytical procedure is to demonstrate that the drug Capecitabine is suitable for its intended purpose. The method is based on the ultraviolet absorbance maximum of the above drug at 239.5 nm (240nm). The drug obeyed Beer's law in the concentration range of 5-25µg/ml in distilled water. The proposed method was successfully applied for the determination of drug in commercial tablet preparations. The results of the analysis have been validated statistically and by recovery studies. Due to simplicity, rapidity and accuracy of the method, we believe that the method will be useful for routine quality control analysis.
